We are a fast growing SaaS proptech company. Product culture, lean engineering, work with fun yet serious people.

Job description

Utility Profit is a B2B2C SaaS platform that automates utility setup for renters and property managers, driving higher conversion rates and seamless move-in experiences. We champion engineering excellence, data-driven decisions, and a product-first mindset.

You’ll be our first Senior Technical Product Manager, you’ll own the end-to-end delivery of critical features, partnering deeply with engineering, design, and QA teams. You’re equally comfortable debating system architecture or data models and distilling those discussions into razor-sharp user stories. Your exceptional communication skills will ensure every stakeholder, from C-suite to front-line engineer, shares a common vision.

Working at Utility Profit

  • Impact on our large and growing scale: Own features that directly improve renters’ move-in experience and drive substantial revenue growth.

  • Fast culture: We don’t have time to nitpick everything, we don’t want to either. We have a lean team where your voice shapes our product every day. Your decisions will only be judged based on data and cross-team assessments.

  • Growth & Mentorship: Advance your career by mentoring others, leading cross-functional initiatives, and working side-by-side with seasoned founders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Roadmapping & Prioritization

    • Craft and maintain a long-term product roadmap aligned with company goals.

    • Balance quick wins against foundational work (scalability, reliability) with clear business impact.

  2. Advanced Backlog & Ticket Grooming

    • Lead deep-dive grooming sessions, converting complex technical conversations into concise, testable tickets.

    • Strip away unnecessary detail while retaining all requirements needed for high-quality deliverables.

  3. Cross-Functional Communication & Alignment

    • Serve as the primary liaison between engineering, design, sales, and executives—translating technical nuances into clear business language and vice versa.

    • Run effective demos, sprint reviews, and stakeholder syncs that leave everyone unambiguous on progress and next steps.

  4. Technical Fluency & Hands-On Debugging

    • Define, test, and troubleshoot RESTful APIs in Postman; dive into browser DevTools (Network tab, Console, performance) to pinpoint front-end/back-end issues.

    • Collaborate on database schema design, indexing strategies, and high-level system architecture with PostgreSQL and service-oriented best practices.

  5. Mentorship & Process Improvement

    • Coach junior PMs on technical scoping, ticket writing, and effective stakeholder communication.

    • Continuously refine our agile processes—introducing patterns that boost throughput and reduce rework.

  6. Data-Driven Decision Making

    • Partner with analytics to define success metrics, craft SQL-based analyses, and run A/B tests.

    • Leverage telemetry and usage data to iterate rapidly and validate assumptions.

Job requirements

  1. 5+ years of Technical Product Management in a SaaS environment, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.

  2. Proven track record of grooming and delivering complex technical features end-to-end.

  3. Exceptional verbal and written communication, able to tailor messaging for engineers, leadership, and external partners.

  4. Hands-on experience with Postman (or equivalent), browser dev tools, and SQL (PostgreSQL preferred).

  5. Deep understanding of REST API design, microservices architecture, and relational database principles.

  6. Strong facilitation skills: sprint planning, retrospectives, and cross-team workshops.
